Businesses in Lancaster have voted yes to making the city centre a Business Improvement District (BID).
Turnout in the ballot was 40% with 67% of businesses by number voting in favour and 61% in favour by size. The vote was independently managed by the Electoral Reforms Service.

Lancaster's traditional Charter Market is hosting a festive Christmas Market in the courtyard of the magnificent Lancaster Castle on Thursday, December 20.
Bolton is making a very big effort this festive period to entice business back to the town centre. And now they're adding free Wi-Fi and great discounts into the equation.

The idea started with Jim Black, a resident of Chagrin Falls, a close-knit village in Cleveland's eastern suburbs that is part artist colony and part bedroom community. Black posted the email to a group of his friends. "Let's show our support for one of our local businesses," he wrote. "I challenge everyone to spend AT LEAST $20 at the hardware on the 21st."

Thebestof Lancaster are delighted to be working together with Independent Retail Champion Clare Rayner in organising a ‘Christmas Shopping Crawl’ from 24th November through to 24th December and are looking for 30 independent local retailers in the Lancaster and Morecambe area to join forces and increase visibility of shopping in the area.
Having not yet got over the incredible success of 2012's Bolton Food & Drink Festival, more culinary delights are headed to Bolton as dishes from as far spread as Thailand, New Zealand and South Africa are set to take over the town thanks to Market Place Europe.
