It's claimed (Independent Newspaper) that Supermarkets take £7 out of every £10 spent on the high street! So, why not give the supermarket a miss and "Buy Local" by supporting our local markets held in Newbury and the surrounding area.

There are several to chose from over the coming month...

Charter Market - Thursday 1st April 2010

Here you can find: Fruit & Veg, fishmonger, herbs & spices, olives, bread & cakes, cheese, flowers, plants and books, 2 fresh butchers stalls,  jams and chutneys, army surplus goods and a range of pet supplies.

You will also find fine handmade jewellery, clothing, fresh coffee beans from around the world and homemade pies to take way and cook at home. For the cooks amongst you fresh Isle of Wight garlic and freshly milled flour can be purchased.

This market takes place every Thursday and Saturday.

Thatcham Market - Friday 2nd April 2010

Held on the Boradway Thatcham, amongst other items this market features fruit and veg, a butchers, household goods, flowers and plants and freshly baked bread.

This market takes place every Friday.

Farmers Market - Sunday 4th April 2010 in Newbury and Sunday 25th April in Hungerford


Run by the Thames Valley Farmers' market Co-operative the aim is to bring fresh locally grown produce directly from the farmer to the consumer.

The market offers the very best in seasonal produce and all the stall-holders are directly involved in the production of goods they sell. You will find a selection of stalls including meat, vegetables, sweets, wines etc.

For unrivalled Freshness and locally produced products its well worth a visit!
