Think of a live music venue and you either think of a huge, soulless space with terrible acoustics and slim chance of really seeing the band or a dingy little hole down a street you would rather not venture down after dark.
Situated in beautiful countryside near Perth, The Famous Bein Inn is the antithesis of the usual live music venue.
Keeping the best elements of the traditional inns like good food, roaring fires and comfortable rooms the Famous Bein Inn is a unique live music venue with a tangible and visible history.
The main performance space is the Concert Room. Occasionally used as an a la carte restaurant, the tables are cleared well away for concerts leaving 60 seats for an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Don't think that a small room hasn't attracted the very best acts. Over the years musical legends like Albert Lee (guitarist with Emmylou Harris and Eric Clapton), John Martyn, John Jorgenson (Elton John, The Hellecasters) and Squeeze main man Glen Tilbrook have graced the stage, many asking to return time and again.
Downstairs is the Rock Gallery Bistro where smaller gigs and guitar workshops are held. This is also the setting for The Famous Bein Inn's renowned music memorabilia collection. Almost every square inch of the walls and ceilings are covered with backstage passes, posters and set-lists from music legends like Clapton, Free, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. There is also an amazing collection of signed Fender from the likes of Carlos Santana and Mark Knopfler.
The Rock Gallery Bistro can also accommodate 30 people for a gig as well as offering good food and a selection of spirits, beers and wines.
The MacGregor Bar is the main restaurant at the Famous Bein Inn near Perth and serves great food, cooked on the premises with a regularly changing menu and walls covered with photographs of some of the great names to play at the Inn.
The Famous Bein Inn has eleven guest bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities, TV and views across the Bein woods. Four of the rooms have larger sitting areas and a number of rooms are decorated similarly to the Rock Gallery Bistro with music memorabilia on all the walls.
If you are travelling along way from Perth, the famous Bein Inn offers a play and stay package with pre gig meals, tickets, accommodation and a full Scottish breakfast the morning after. The Famous Bein Inn has welcomed guests from all over the UK, Europe and even the US.
