North Meets South of Penarth, a fresh and inviting cafe for breakfast, lunch, and everything in between.

North Meets South is a cafe with a difference. Run by proprietors, Fiona and Simon Hood, this Penarth cafe combines fresh, simple organic food with a bold, African inspired decor to create a colourful haven in Penarth's Windsor Arcade.

Fiona and Simon, owners of this successful Penarth cafe, are committed to providing residents and visitors to Penarth with a cafe service that is both ethical and enjoyable (North Meets South is one of a growing number of Penarth businesses committed to supporting Fairtrade suppliers) . They describe their approach in their own words;

"All of the coffee, tea and sugars we sell at our cafe are Fairtrade products, which helps to support our friends in developing countries. All of our fillings are hand made daily here in Penarth, using only the finest organic and local produce available to us."

North Meets South of Penarth is a cafe which caters for all taste buds, from the traditional to the more adventurous! Open for breakfast, lunch, coffee  and snacks, this Penarth cafe offers:

  • Pastries and Tea Cakes
  • Sandwiches
  • Toasted sandwiches
  • Soups, quiches and organic salads
  • Wraps
  • Pittas
  • Herbed Paninis
  • Jacket Potatoes

The Penarth cafe's range of African inspired fillings include "The South African" (Chicken Mayonnaise, fresh lemon zest and cracked black pepper), "The Chad" (Chorizo sausage, mozzarella, peppers and red chilli) and "The Madagascan" (Philadelphia cream cheese, avocado, peppers, olives and sun dried tomatoes)!

The cafe also serves a wide selection of Fairtrade coffee, tea and chocolate, a selection of chilled drinks and a tempting array of freshly baked desserts! All can be enjoyed in the relaxing environment of Penarth's most laid back cafe.

For the past few months, North Meets South Cafe have also been providing school lunches for the pupils at Penarth's Westbourne School. This has been an exciting venture for this young Penarth company, and Simon describes its success to date:

"We are using an exciting combination of fresh and healthy eating organic foods to create a tasty and varied menu, which both staff and pupils are enjoying. The school has been impressed with our flexible, reliable and friendly service and the so called "fussy eaters" keep coming back for more!"

North Meets South Cafe of Penarth also cater for private functions, and have a delivery service across Penarth and Cardiff during opening hours. For more information about these services, or on what North Meets South Cafe has to offer, pop into the cafe at 7, Windsor Arcade or call Fiona and Simon on 029 2070 8157. They will be delighted to hear from you.

I love this place! Simon & Fiona have got something really special going on here. Itʼs not just the great food (fantastic panninis), speedy service with a smile, happy atmosphere, mix of customers , vibrant decor, fairtrade products, the location, the world music............itʼs the cakes.
Truly Exceptional
