Supermarkets and banks could start providing consumers with a range of legal services that are usually reserved for traditional outlets, according to reports.
Thanks to the Legal Services Bill, it could mean that shoppers could get will writing services and divorce advice while queuing for their vegetables.
And research from Capita Legal Services has revealed that there is a great deal of interest amongst consumers in the provision of new services from familiar high street vendors.
Of those polled by the firm, 46.9 per cent claimed that they would be happy to use services from new providers once they were on the market.
Max Pell, managing director of Capita Legal Services, said: "It's clear that there is a huge potential market for 'alternative' providers of volume legal services, with nearly half of consumers saying that they would use them."
Capita's survey also revealed where consumers would be most comfortable going for legal advice after deregulation, with banks, building societies and insurers coming out on top.
And out of the non-financial services, Citizens Advice Bureau came top with the AA and Tesco taking the other places in the top ten.
