Halifax launches its first legal services

Consumers can now get access to will writing services and divorce advice on the high street thanks to the launch of Halifax Legal Solutions.
While the AA has launched a similar service, the new Halifax service is the first of its kind to be unveiled by a high street financial services provider.
Paying an annual subscription fee of £89, consumers are given access to a dedicated phone line manned by solicitors, barristers and other legal professionals, as well as a website filled with useful documents and step-by-step guides.
According to Halifax Legal Solutions, consumers "could save hundreds of pounds" by accessing the system.
Divorce and will writing services have traditionally been the preserve of solicitors and other specific legal providers, but the new Legal Services Reform Bill has given non-legal firms the opportunity to enter the market.
Supermarkets have also announced they are considering providing will writing services and the like, with one major brand already trialling products in the north and preparing to roll the scheme out nationwide.
