Web design wins Burnley lad trip to Japan

Web Design - 11/12/2006 16:47:12

A student from Burnley has won a trip to Japan thanks to his "outstanding" web design skills.

Ashley Grennan is an A-level IT student from Burnley College and has been awarded the prize thanks to, what judges called, his "outstanding" ability to create web pages.

The 17-year-old is now set to head to the land of the rising sun to represent the UK against other budding web designers from around the world.

Talking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Mr Grennan said: "I still can't believe that I actually managed to get through.

"It was quite nerve-wracking presenting my work to a panel of judges, but they seemed to like what I did."

The UK Skills Challenge award is run by Skills Challenge, an organisation that awards individuals for exceptional achievement at a regional and national level.

As well as web design, Skills Challenge awards people across a range of sectors, including confectionary, floristry, graphic design and entrepreneurship.
