A small village near Belper is to get its own online presence with the launch of a new website for local news.

From Friday, villagers living in Crich will be able to catch up on all the local news and information from the comfort of their own home.

Crich resident Andrew Auld has taken charge of the web design of the site and has constructed a web page that will give easy access to all the content contained in the local magazine as well as some fresh articles.

Peter Patilla, editor of the Crich Area Community News (CACN), said that he is happy that the magazine's content is now online.

Speaking to the Matlock Mercury, he said: "I had been trying to learn a bit about web design while on holiday in the autumn so was delighted when I got home to an e-mail from Andrew volunteering to build a CACN website for me.

"What I am particularly pleased about is that the site adds much more to the magazine with the forum, events calendar, latest news and e-mail alerts."

Mr Patilla added that the website's clean design was more than likely to ensure that the number of hits would climb over the coming months.
