Thames Water is calling on residents of Bromley, South London, to take part in a pioneering scheme to test the efficiency of water-saving devices.
As part of the study, plumbers will fit water-saving devices to taps, showers, pipes, cisterns and other water receptacles with Thames Water claiming that it will help homeowners cut their water bills.
The water company has said that the study of these devices is the biggest of its kind ever undertaken in the UK and could lead to a new trend in society for people to reduce the amount of water they use.
Helen Chapman, a project manager at Thames Water, told the Bromley Times: "We aim to start the study in early January.
"But need to hear from people within the next couple of weeks if they would like to take part, so that our accredited plumbers can install the water-saving devices in time. We have already heard from many people who want to be part of the study, but are keen to involve as many as possible."
Ms Chapman added that only residents with water meters were eligible to take part in the scheme but those that did would almost certainly "see their bills fall".
