Minimal hotel to get overhaul

A minimalist hotel in Edinburgh is to undergo a multimillion pound makeover, according to reports.
Over the next 18 months, interior designers will completely overhaul the Point Hotel on Bread Street.
A favourite with celebrities ranging from Liam Gallagher to Kylie Minogue, the Point Hotel has won a string of awards in recent years for its stylish and elegant, yet simple, interior.
However, the hotel's new owners have decided that it is time for a makeover and are preparing to spend £4 million remodelling the interior design to give it a warmer, "more modern look".
Neil Ellis, The Point's general manager, said: "The hotel's original design and minimalist approach was extremely well received but over the years the rooms were starting to wear and look a bit tired.
"When we took over last year we felt the feel of the hotel was just too stark and that the rooms in particular were too cold and masculine."
Mr Ellis added that a radical refurbishment was needed to ensure that the hotel remained a success.
