Job opportunities after hotel sales

Job seekers in Inverness look set to profit after two hotels, which were part of the London and Edinburgh Swallow Hotels Group, have been sold.

The Inverness Courier said that dozens of jobs are likely to be created from the sale but some are concerned about the fate of employees at the Columba Hotel, the Craigmonie and the Golf View in Nairn, which are not part of the deal.

These three hotels, however, are highly profitable and are expected to sell at some point over the next few months.

London and Edinburgh Swallow Hotels Group appointed Ernst & Young as joint administrators to the first sale. Within 24 hours the company announced it had sold 240 hotels and pubs to Flodrive Group, securing the jobs of almost 2,500 employees.

An industry source told the Courier: "Swallow Hotels only lease these premises and some of the hotels are already owned by Flodrive. What's effectively happening is leases are being bought out by Flodrive and they are taking control of hotels they already own.

"The Golf View and Craigmonie were not on Flodrive's portfolio but they are highly profitable hotels and there will be no shortage of people queuing up to buy these businesses."
