Hotel goes barking mad

One of the country's largest hotel chains is offering guests' pets their very own beds so they can sleep comfortably beside their owners.

The decision, by hotel giant Travelodge, aims to console guests who cannot bear to spend a night away from their beloved cats and dogs.

A survey by the hotel chain revealed that almost two thirds of people who stay in Travel Lodge hotels felt miserable when they left their pets at home.

Now, furry friends will be provided with a specially designed 76cm long by 60cm wide pet bed which will be placed in rooms in Newcastle upon Tyne, Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottingham.

Wayne Munnelly, Travelodge's sleep director, said: "For a long time, we have allowed customers to bring their cats and dogs with them when they stay with us.

"Now we are adding a little bit extra for those who want to spoil their furry friends by giving them their very own bed."

To avoid the hotel turning into a zoo, however, guests are limited to having two pets each and have to pay £10 extra for each night they stay.
