Heathrow cancellations causing havoc

Many travellers are bracing themselves for a night or two in a hotel after British Airways announced that it was cancelling around 350 domestic and short haul flights at London's Heathrow airport due to thick fog in the capital.
Thousands of holidaymakers are now stranded and are unsure whether they will have to wait until the weekend before they can take to the sky.
Aside from Heathrow, other British airports have been affected by the adverse weather conditions including Coventry, Manchester and Cardiff.
Patrick Spink, British Airways spokesman, said: "On a scale like this, it's pretty rare and hasn't happened in several years."
He continued: "The last fog cancellation was back in November, but not on this scale.''
The news has come at the worst possible time as thousands of travellers seek to spend Christmas with loved ones and it is not just British Airways flights affected. According to a Heathrow spokesperson, Lufthansa and Alitalia flights have also been cancelled.
