Hotels in Cardiff look set to profit from next year's Rugby World Cup – despite the fact it that it is being hosted by France.
Reports have confirmed that temporary accommodation is already sparse in the Welsh city, with fans booking out local hotels ten months before the Millennium Stadium hosts four matches.
Ian Everitt, of Destination Cardiff, told the Echo newspaper: "Cardiff is established as a major sporting venue and it is experienced in hosting these events. The 2007 Rugby World Cup next year will showcase this fact and the Millennium Stadium is one of only two stadia outside France hosting matches.
"With four fixtures it will hold more matches than some French cities. The fact hotels are full already means that our bars, restaurants and local attractions will have business boosted with great benefits for everyone."
Hotel reception manager James Macleod called it brilliant news and said the World Cup was really good for the city. He added that his hotel, the Big Sleep, has been booked out for next year's dates for some time.
