Television actor Neil Morrissey is putting £5 million into renovating his country hotel which has already lost £1,375,664 in a year.

The Hurst Hotel in Laugharne, Wales, will now be closed for renovation work until the end of November.

Morrissey, who starred in hit BBC comedy Men Behaving Badly, says he believes the hotel is destined for success despite loosing huge amounts of money this year.

His spokesman told the Daily Mirror: "He loves Wales. You have to speculate to accumulate. He is not worried."

He already owns a number of hotels and clubs across the county including Brown's Hotel and the Three Mariners pub in Laugharne and the Hurst House private members' club in London's Covent Garden.

The voice of Bob the Builder is also rumored to be ploughing £7.5 million into developing the Mill near Letchworth in Hertfordshire into a 24-suite property with his Hurst House business partner, Matt Roberts.

If plans go-ahead, the complex will contain a 100-seat restaurant plus spa and fitness centre and will open its doors in late 2007.
