Tame, set and match for Murray

Hairdressers - 02/11/2006 12:00:43

Hairdressers across the country are preparing themselves for the possibility that tennis star Andy Murray may stroll into their salon and demand a cut.

The teenage sportsman has recently admitted he has not had a professional haircut in more that a year-and-a-half and has either cut it himself, or got his girlfriend to chop at it with nail scissors.

But all is about to change now the tennis ace is asking fans to go on to his website and vote for which style they want him to sport for his next match.

So far, it looks like the young Scot may be following in the footsteps of fellow sporting hero David Beckham, with 77 per cent of fans opting for the Real Madrid player's style.

But one Scottish hairdresser is against the idea of Murray getting a "short back and sides" saying it will leave him looking geeky.

Taylor Ferguson told the Daily Record: "A short hairstyle like that would just make Andy look like a geek. He needs to keep his hair long. All it needs is a wee bit of control and straightening."
