Hairdressers around the country are gearing up for the industry's most prestigious awards ceremony, the British Hairdressing Awards 2006.
Salons across the country will be shutting early as hairdressers head down to London's Grosvenor House Hotel to see if they have been victorious in this year's awards.
Hairdressers will be competing in nine national categories and six specialist awards that are set to be as competitive as ever.
Jayne Lewis-Orr, editor-in-chief of Hairdressers Journal International which organises the event, said: "Each year the standard of entries in all categories becomes more creative and inspirational.
"British hairdressing is perceived throughout the world as being the best and the British Hairdressing Awards recognise and reward creativity and excellence in all hairdressing skills."
As well as the 15 awards set to be battled out by salons across the UK, there is the prestigious award for Hairdressers of the Year 2006 to be decided.
Entry for that prize is via invitation only and this year the six hairdressers competing for the top prize are Andrew Barton, Antoinette Beenders, Errol Douglas, Akin Konizi, Angelo Seminara and Richard Ward.
