Hairdressers gearing up for national awards

Hairdressers
across Britain are gearing up for the British Hairdressing Awards after nominees for the November event were finally revealed.

The British Hairdressing Awards were launched in 1985 to reward hairdressers who were pushing the boundaries of hairstyling, creating and setting the trends and excelling in the industry.

This year's show is expected to be just as spectacular as previous events and for months hairdressers up and down the country have been preparing for their photo shoots and deciding which of the nine regional and six specialist categories they will enter.

Six finalists have been named in each of the 15 categories and all will be hoping for success in what are dubbed the Oscars of the hairdressing world.

The most hotly contested award is for the British Hairdresser of the Year title, with entry to this award by nomination only.

Editor-in-chief of Hairdressers Journal International Jayne Lewis-Orr said: "Each year the standard of entries in all categories becomes more creative and inspirational.

"British hairdressing is perceived throughout the world as being the best and the British Hairdressing Awards recognise and reward creativity and excellence in all hairdressing skills."

The winning hairdressers will be announced at a glittering awards dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on November 27th 2006.
