Queen of pop Madonna has tricked fans into thinking she has taken a trip to the hairdressers when really she has been sporting a blonde wig.
Her new, dramatic platinum blond 'hair-cut' shocked visitors at a photography exhibition in Japan where the 48-year-old star showed off her new look.
Despite some fans believing Madge had gone for the chop, most were relieved to find her back to her normal long curls at a concert in the Tokyo Dome later that evening.
The Material Girl's wig, which was created by Beverly Hills hairdresser Andy LeCompte, was meant for the singer's next music video. But the diva loved it so much she even wore it for the last few tracks of the Confessions concert in Japan.
LeCompte is believed to be accompanying the singer around the globe for the last four months of her much publicised tour.
A source told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Madonna has been toying with the idea of getting her hair cut for some time, but hasn't quite had the courage to go through with it.
"The wig was her idea and a way of trying the bob out without going for the chop."
