Celebrity salons lead the way

Hairdressers and beauty salons are making major profits thanks to the British public's widespread concern over the way the look, new research has shown.
A survey conducted by Research and Markets shows that hair salons in the UK expect sales to continue growing strongly at around 22 per cent throughout the rest of 2006.
Similarly, beauticians and day spas are benefiting hugely from the desire of the general public to look younger and the increasing number of men and young people who are hoping to delay the signs of aging.
Salons linked to celebrity hairdressers have also seen a major growth out performing all other salon's in the sector.
Celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Colleen McLoughlin who are constantly changing their hair and appearance are also prompting fans to head to the hairdressers to keep up with the latest fashion.
Some 'celebrity' salons were recorded as having growth rates of 50 per cent with increases in their number of clients and higher sales of premium priced, designer label hair care products.
Research and Markets also highlighted that the link between beauty and quality of life is being strengthened as busy and stressed clients use face and skin care treatments not only to enhance their appearance but also to relax and pamper themselves.
