UK 'super florist' in takeover

Florists - 31/07/2006 17:13:19

Interflora, the UK company who provides goods and services to 1,800 florists, has been taken over by the American FTD Group.

Interflora will now be merged with the American floral product company and join their portfolio of 20,000 US and Canadian florists and 30,000 additional florists in 150 countries around the world.

Michael Soenen, chief executive officer of FTD, said: "We are pleased to have Interflora as part of the FTD family.

"We are excited about working with the management team to expand our platform and establish ourselves in the European marketplace."

Both Interflora and the FTD Group use the mercury man logo which is commonly seen in florists around the UK, making the transition easier.

As well as 1,800 member florists, Interflora also sells floral goods and services to consumers direct via the phone and internet.
