Florists are some of the lowest paid workers in the country along with theme park attendants and check-out operators, according to the latest figures.
A report published by GMB shows that flower arrangement and floristry is the forth lowest paid profession with workers earning an average of £11,211 each year.
The lowest paid job on the salary scale was leisure and theme park workers with average earnings of £10,420.
Christian Allinson, 36, who works as a ride operator at Barry Island Pleasure Park near Cardiff, told the Western Mail: "It's not stressful but it can be challenging if you get rowdy people, and also dealing with irate parents. We have height restrictions on the rides for health and safety but often people try to get their kids on the rides when they're too small and we can't let them on.
"But it's nice to be outside and not stuck in an office all day. It's a good environment to work in and I'm learning good communication skills, which is making me more of a people person."
Directors and chief executives of major organisations top the UK salary league with average earnings of £171,509 in 2005.
