A florist is suffering from a loss of business after a thief stole his delivery van, it was reported today.
Fred Rix, who lives in Cheshire, told the Runcorn Weekly News that he was having difficulty delivering flowers on time now that he no longer had his trusty silver Peugeot van.
He said: "I couldn't believe it was happening. The man was in and out in a matter of seconds.
"I had placed my keys on the bin near my garden, as I was doing the grass, but within one stripe of the lawn the van was gone."
He added: "My wife was shouting to me that they had driven off, but they were too fast and we were onto the police immediately."
Luckily, a number of local taxi firms and customers who know Rix have rallied around to help him to make his deliveries on time.
Rix told the newspaper that despite reporting the incident to the police no arrests have yet been made.
Last month the Corvallis Gazette Times reported the theft of another florist's van and plants from Shonnard's Nursery, Florist & Landscape.
Owner Chris Shonnard said: "It honestly looked like they went on a shopping spree, filling up the van with stuff they liked. This is the kind of thing that drives small business people crazy."
