Cardiff florist tackles robber

Florists - 04/09/2006 13:03:35

A brave Cardiff florist single-handedly challenged a robber and forced him to drop the money he was trying to get away with, according to reports.

The unnamed florist found the assailant in the stock room of the shop on Beulah Road, near Rhiwbina and when he tried to escape she made a grab for a moneybag he had in his hands.

The 20-year old managed to wrestle that from his hands but he pushed her to one side and made away with the manager's handbag.

The manager, who wished to remain unnamed, said: "It was very admirable of her to try to stop him but, to be honest, I would rather she just left him alone.

"She noticed he had something under his coat and a moneybag which she tried to grab but he pushed her to the ground with some force. He ran off into Rhiwbina village."

While the moneybag only contained £20, the handbag was filled with personal goods that valued around £300.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the incident to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

While not all florists are guaranteed to be as brave, you can be sure that they'll give you a great bouquet to impress a loved one with.
