Bolton florist accuses warden of 'insensitivity'

Florists - 08/11/2006 16:14:08

A florist has accused a traffic warden of 'insensitivity' by demanding she move her car even though she had broken her foot.

Christine Boardman parked on double yellow lines while delivering flowers to a wedding at St Edmund's Church, Bolton but fell and broke her foot.

Mr Boardman claims that a parking warden was already moving towards her vehicle when she slipped and hurt herself but instead of coming to the stricken grandmother's aid, he demanded she moved her vehicle.

Ms Boardman tried to stand but collapsed in pain, something doctors later told her had aggravated the injury further.

Speaking to the Bolton News, Ms Boardman said: "The warden just kept repeating over and over again that I had to move my car. He didn't show any sympathy at all."

However, the warden did eventually call an ambulance and did not issue the florist with a parking ticket.

And NCP, the firm that employs the warden in question, claims that this shows how he went "that extra mile" and added that at no point was there a discussion regarding issuing a ticket.
