Estate agents across the country may be going out of business after new research revealed that UK workers are six times more likely to look for a home on the web than on the street.
ScanSafe, a global leader in managed web security has released its latest Global Threat Report on web filtering, spyware and viruses.
The report reveals major differences between the way the UK and American workforce look for houses, jobs and organise their weddings online.
ScanSafe said that in August, more than one in 50 web pages requested by employees while at work were house hunting or job search websites.
In both countries, visiting websites related to buying a home outweighed the number of sites being used to find a new job.
Workers in the UK are six times more likely to use the web to visit estate agency sites to buy or rent a home than their US counterparts.
Eldar Tuvey, CEO and co-founder of ScanSafe, said: "Getting married, finding a job and looking for a home are three major life-changing events and it's interesting to see how these impact work habits between the two cultures."
