Estate agents in Scotland look set to benefit from increasing house prices throughout the country.
New research by the Registers of Scotland said that the average price for a property is now £142,355 - a rise of 8.9 per cent in the third quarter of this year.
From April to July, the average Scottish home would set a buyer back by around £130,681, which itself is an increase of 12.5 per cent on the same period in 2005.
Once again, the Lothian region has the priciest properties with house hunters looking to spend an average of £181,401 for a property there.
The highest year-on-year increase was seen in the Grampians which saw a 16.6 per cent rise in the cost of purchasing a home.
Glasgow may not have the highest prices, but it has the most buoyant market of all the Scottish cities with sales totalling around £1.7 billion for the third quarter.
