Gardens 'a must' for new buyers

Homes with a back garden should be at the top of estate agents' wish lists, after young families put it at the top of theirs.
According to a survey for online property broker SmartNewHomes, people looking for new homes want a safer, more spacious environment for their children to play.
A poll on the SmartNewHomes website found that a rear garden came top of buyers' wish lists, closely followed by a driveway and a separate breakfast room.
David Bexon, managing director of SmartNewHomes.com said: "The survey clearly indicates that buyers are demanding more for their money.
"The continued migration away from London to surrounding rural areas indicates that buyers of all ages are prepared to sacrifice their London lifestyle for the more spacious suburbs."
Mr Bexon noted that the need for extra room was to accommodate growing families and that estate agents with these properties in their portfolio could make money, as buyers were willing to pay for the extras.
