Estate agents are getting involved in a campaign to fight homelessness on the streets of London.
The project, which is being launched by homeless charity Shelter, will involve an ad campaign which will highlight the appalling housing conditions faced by some families in the capital.
Agencies will put mocked-up house ads featuring derelict buildings in their windows which will appear alongside particulars of genuine properties on the market.
Ivor Dickinson, managing director of Douglas & Gordon who are involved in the project, said: "This will shock some of our customers, but the scale of the housing and homelessness crisis means it is a risk worth taking."
More than one million children in the UK live in run-down, overcrowded or dangerous housing, according to Shelter.
Adam Sampson of Shelter said: "Across Britain, almost 130,000 homeless children are having their health, education and future chances ruined by the lack of a safe, permanent home.
"The Government must commit to building more social rented homes in the next Comprehensive Spending Review if it is serious about tackling homelessness and offering these people the chance of a brighter future."
