Estate agents welcome Hips rethink

Estate Agents - 01/08/2006 17:46:17

Estate agents in Warwick are pleased that the government is reconsidering how home information packs (Hips) will work, it has been revealed.

Warwick Today says that the packs, which were designed to make moving house more efficient for both buyer and seller, are currently confusing for some estate agents.

It reported that estate agents have been concerned by the £1,000 cost of each for selection of documents - that can be found on the web.

There was also confusion over how the Hips will work with critics saying that in their current form, Hips could make the process of buying a house would be even more expensive and slower than before.

The government first said that the packs would be compulsory from June of next year but in a major u-turn at the beginning of the month it said that the seller's survey, originally the central part of the pack, would now be voluntary.

This week ministers are expected to rethink the whole scheme which has already cost many estate agents thousands of pounds through training up their staff to understand the workings of the pack.

The National Association of Estate Agents based in Warwick have welcomed the plans of government ministers to rethink the content of the Hips.
