Businesses to go green for LESS

Business Support and Networking - 04/12/2006 15:15:02

A new green business support and networking scheme has been launched to help firms in London stay more competitive.

The London Environmental Support Service (LESS) aims to give firms of all sizes access to business support and networking designed to make going green easier.

Set up by the London Development Agency (LDA), LESS offers advice on how to turn green, how to keep green and provides a forum for like-minded businesses across London to come together to share ideas and tips.

According to the LDA, many smaller businesses are under the impression that going green is expensive and that costs will outweigh the benefits.

However, Chris Secrett, a board member at the LDA, said: "All too often SMEs worry that the costs of change will outweigh the benefits.

"In fact, going green makes good economic sense. Saving energy, recycling waste resources and reducing pollution can cut operating costs and improve competitiveness for small and big companies alike."

This is where the LESS comes in, according to the LDA. Through its business support and networking scheme, firms across the capital can help cut waste at every part of their operations, manage resources more efficiently and join a group of like-minded people.
