Builders rescue pups

Builders - 13/09/2006 11:51:20

Eight puppies who were left abandoned outside a closed vets clinic have been named after the builders who found them, it has been reported.

The Scotsman says that the black Labradors were found freezing cold and soaking wet dumped in a laundry basket at the Albyn Vet Practice in West Lothian.

The builders discovered the puppies when they arrived at the clinic to carry out maintenance work and immediately alerted the local animal rescue team.

Animal rescue charity workers named the puppies Alan, Willie, Ian, Martin, Gillian, Hazel, Mary and Kay after the builders and vets who looked after them when they were taken in.

Willie Wilson, a painter and decorator who found the pups, said: "We were working outside and we just heard the sound of them crying - a small mewling sound. It was heartbreaking.

"They were tiny and shivering. We took them inside and dried them off and put on an electric radiator to try to get some heat into them. I'm just glad they're OK after everything they've been through."
