Builders campaign to save energy

The Builders' Merchants Federation (BMF) has launched a campaign to encourage homeowners to buy materials which will improve the energy efficiency of their houses over the winter months.
The aim of the campaign, which comes just weeks before Energy Saving Week, is a 20 per cent cut in energy consumption across the country.
Some of the basic measures the BMF recommends are loft insulation, a hot-water-tank jacket, draught excluders to exterior doors, fitting thermostatic valves to radiators and installing energy-saving light bulbs.
The BMF has also launched a new Product Support Guide to Selling which builders can use to advise customers on what products are the most energy efficient.
BMF Members have said that so far builders and merchants they have spoken to are finding the guides of great benefit in their day to day business.
Energy Saving Week runs from 24th to the 30th October and will involve a number of campaigns and initiatives focusing on the growing problem of energy waste.
