Build it like Beckham

A new survey shows British builders are rejecting the stereotypes of beer guzzling and wolf whistling and opting for something all together more sophisticated.
This is London says the Builder's Lifestyle Census compiled by The Survey Shop polled 250 British builders in September about their lifestyle. But amazingly, today's builders are more concerned about counting the calories than sitting in a greasy spoon cafe at lunchtime.
Around 45 per cent admitted they watch their weight while a whopping 75 per cent said they had never wolf whistled at women passing by their construction site.
Instead, Brit's builders seem more concerned about keeping their skin moisturised and blemish-free. A number admitted to having a "lengthy beauty regime" with many including 13 beauty products in their daily wash and brush-up.
Steven Osborne, managing director at Covers timber and builder's merchants, told This is London: "Today's builders are not the beer-bellied, pie-munching sexists of popular myth.
"Building is now a professional and indeed lucrative career, with the new generation of builders more David Beckham than Auf Wiedersehen Pet."
