Bexley builders get lesson in waste

Pumbers, builders, gardeners and other tradesmen have been given a talk on how to dispose of rubbish by Bexley Council.

Officials from the south London borough called the tradesmen in for a breakfast meeting where they were given advice as part of the Environment Agency's Business Resource and Waste Efficiency (BRWE) campaign.

The builders, plumber and other manual labourers all met at the B&Q store in Belvedere at the beginning of this week where they were given the low-down on problems such as flytipping.

Hazel Smith, project officer for BRWE, said: "This is just one of the ways in which we are tackling waste crimes such as flytipping.

"We encourage everyone to take their responsibility to the environment, as well as the law, seriously."

According to figures released by the Environment Agency, flytipping costs firms in the South East £500,000 per month.
