Hi

Exeter Street Hall is holding another of its “Writers in the Hall” events on Friday, from 7-8.30pm. This month’s theme is “Kindling a story: how visual art sparked three novels” and three Sussex authors will be reading from their books. The event doubles as a book launch for the debut novel of one of the trio, Niyati Keni. The event is free (first come first served) with a licenced bar. Find out more on http://www.exeterstreethall.org/.

It’s the last weekend of the Brighton Science Festival, and it’s going out with a bang. The Big Science Weekend at the Sallis Benney Theatre, has expert presentations, stands from top universities and interactive demos. Suitable for over 16s, you can buy a pass for either day or a saver ticket covering both days. More info on http://www.brightonscience.com/

Join the “BAD” walking tour in Brighton on Friday night and learn about crime and punishment in Victorian Brighton as well as ghosts, murders and more. There’s no set charge but donations will be collected at the end. It isn’t suitable for under 16s or anyone with a nervous disposition ! Meet at the Clock Tower at 7pm and the walk last until 8.30pm. Find out more on http://www.meetup.com/guided-walks-in-BrightonandSussex/events/219599192/

We’re cheating a bit with this last one because strictly speaking, you don’t need to leave home to do it, but it’s such a fantastic cause we couldn’t leave it out. One of the most exciting current projects in the city is the building of the Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT) in Dyke Road Park. It was the dream of the late Adrian Bunting, who left his life savings to the project and asked his friends to make it happen. There’s an online art auction launching on Saturday, but you can bid now. Find out more and see the paintings at http://www.bidforboat.com/
