With the school holidays coming to an end and September around the corner, the city is returning to its usual flurry of activities.. Here are some of the coming week's highlights:
The Shoreham Airshow - Saturday 30/31st August - Shoreham Airport
For 2014, the main themes will be the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the Centenary of the First World War as well as celebrating 25 years of the airshow. On the ground expect extensive static and arena displays, classic cars and trade stalls and a unique “garden party” atmosphere suitable for all ages. From 8:30am, air displays from 10:45am. Advance tickets: £18, £5 (child). At the gate: £22, £8 (child)
Brighton Thai Festival, Saturday 31st of August in Preston Park
A taste of Thailand this summer in the park with Thai food, beer garden and produce stalls. There will also be traditional ceremonies and entertainment - including Thai boxing and coaching for children, traditional music and dancing, Ladyboy show and Thai massage and a children's play area. 10:00am until 7:00pm. Adult ticket: £3. Child: £1.
The Brighton Digital Festival
A month-long celebration of digital culture which runs throughout September at various venues across Brighton and Hove. With over 130 scheduled events covering art, culture, design and entertainment, the festival provides an exciting platform for the arts and digital communities to showcase their work to a wider audience. The Brighthelm Pre-school is 3 minutes walk from Brighton Station. They provide cost effective pre-school child care for 2-5 year olds in the city. 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours free care per week during term time.
