Picnic in the City

16th August to 25th August 2008

Enjoy 10 days of picnics in the city with the Japanese art unit Tokyo Picnic Club (TPC).

Bringing together public spaces and the local food industry TPC will create a huge grass covered aeroplane - Motherplane - and lots of smaller Babyplane picnic sites throughout Newastle and Gateshead.

The Motherplane will be 85 feet long and provide a picnic area for 200 people.  This Motherplane will stay on Baltic Square at Gateshead Quays for the 10 days of this event.

The Babyplanes will travel around the best picnic sites in NewcastleGateshead as chosen by the public.

Bring your own picnic and TPC will be on the lookout for the best picnic recipes over the 10 days.  Recipes will be recorded and on the final day of the event - Bank Holiday Monday 25 August - TPC will announce "10 Picnic Recipes for NewcastleGateshead" and the winner of the "Picnic of the Year" title.

For further information on the picnic areas then please visit www.picnicclub.org

What are RSS Feeds?

RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and stories in one place, as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.

How do I start using feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is something called a feed reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. IE 7.0 has a good feed reader built in, otherwise try Feedreader.
