Temporary Bamboo Suspension Bridge over River Tyne

30th June to 24th July 2008

Bambuco is an Australian company famous for constructing bold large-scale bamboo installations, and in July they’ll be constructing a temporary three-dimensional suspension bridge of bamboo reaching from Gateshead to Newcastle – the biggest ever attempted in the world.

The construction process is an integral part of the event: while the construction/artistic team are assembling the components, there will be protected areas where members of the public can talk to the team. Visitors will also be able to visit exhibitions at both BALTIC and The Sage Gateshead.

The completed bridge will then be on show to the public from Fri 18 – Sun 20 July to mark the start of the SummerTyne festival. Come along from 10pm on the Friday to join in the celebration of its completion.

What are RSS Feeds?

RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and stories in one place, as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.

How do I start using feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is something called a feed reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. IE 7.0 has a good feed reader built in, otherwise try Feedreader.
