x
From: 03 May 2008
To: 22 May 2008
Following on from last years huge success, EAT! NewcastleGateshead celebrates the region’s very best food and drink.

Events in Newcastle from The Best of Newcastle

EAT! NewcastleGateshead celebrates the region’s very best food and drink. The finest local and fairly traded produce is here on a plate. There’s an exciting programme of unique events, and it’s all about quality, excellence, diversity and sustainability.

Top treats on the menu include....

A secret restaurant, in town for five days only

This is the showstopper. Don't miss the event of the festival. Getting a reservation for this guerrilla restaurant, in town for five days only, is like winning one of Willy Wonka's golden tickets. Details cannot be revealed: the restaurant's location, chef and menu are closely guarded secrets. All we can tell you is that last year this event sold out 12 times over, and people are still talking about it.

This year, it's completely different again: some clues? The event is in association with Latin American specialists VAMOS! and sensible footwear is required... Book early to reserve your place. If you're successful, you'll be told the location just 24 hours before your reservation. And be prepared for some surprises.

Mon 12 - Fri 16 May, 7.15pm
Secret Location
Price: £39.50, fully inclusive of wines. Limit of 6 tickets per person
To book: 0191 230 5151

A restaurant in total darkness that really tests your tastebuds.

Lively markets on NewcastleGateshead’s quaysides piled high with the best local produce to try and to buy.

....and

The closing event and gala dinner for EAT! NewcastleGateshead is a truly spectacular event, in association with Slow Food UK. In a grand setting, with a unique menu, this is a glittering finale to the festival.

Ten Things to EAT! Before They Die

The menu features at least ten ingredients from the Slow Food's Ark of Taste list, the endangered species of the food world. These are artisan foods that are now made by just a small handful of producers, from Herdwick mutton, wild Ethiopian coffee, Irish raw milk cheese and Hungarian mangalica sausage from the famous woolly pigs! Enjoy the evening and help draw attention to the work of Slow Food in saving these traditional foods. The evening will include entertainment including magicians and musicians, a festival award-giving and foodie goodie bags to take home.

Venue and Time:
Thurs 22 May, 7pm for 7.30pm
Marriott Hotel, Gosforth Park
Price: £85 fully inclusive of wine

To book: 0191 230 5151

What are RSS Feeds?

RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and stories in one place, as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.

How do I start using feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is something called a feed reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. IE 7.0 has a good feed reader built in, otherwise try Feedreader.
