Twitter automatically shortens links

Did you know that Twitter have made a few changes recently to make Twitter even more useable?

This is great news for anyone that uses Twitter but because social media tends to change so quickly and it can be hard to keep up, we thought we'd summarise it here for your convenience.

Twitter.com now features an automatic link shortener.

 

If you paste a link of any length into the Tweet box (where you write your tweets) the link will automatically be shortened so it only takes up 19 characters.  It'll happen as soon as you hit the 'Tweet' button!  

How great is that?  No more fiddling around with external link shorteners!

Just so you know though, you can still continue to use your 3rd party link shorteners like bit.ly etc if you want to use analytics.
