The hand-wrapped personalised chocolate bars, lovingly created by a local person near to where you live, have been enjoying something of a boom, despite the economic difficulties. Sales of My Little Wrapper bars in the run up to Christmas were up almost 50% on previous years with tens of thousands of bars being shipped on the busiest days.
“I think the reason for the success of My Little Wrapper is down to three things”said Nigel Botterill, the Midlands based serial entrepreneur who founded of the business three years ago. “Firstly, it’s a novel product that always gets people talking. Everybody loves the personalisation and the bars make quite an impact at whatever event they’re used. Secondly, it’s very affordable. In these belt-tightened times people are looking for nice things that don’t cost the earth, and My Little Wrapper definitley comes into that category, and thirdly, of course, it’s chocolate.”
“The reality is that chocolate is still very much a growth business which is why Kraft have come in for Cadbury. Here at My Little Wrapper our scale of operation is considerably smaller but the principles still apply. If you’ve got the right product in the right market and you promote it well then you’ll enjoy success – and that’s why My Little Wrapper is thriving despite the recession."
