The very finest in local produce and crafts
A farmers' market is a place where producers from a local area sell their own produce direct to the public. The goods on sale are fully traceable and, because they originate locally, you can expect products to be fresh and great value for money. Furthermore, because the food you buy has not travelled great distances, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to reduce the environmental impact of transportation.
The tradition of farmers' markets goes back many centuries and even today, they remain popular places where local communities can buy fresh food as well as more unusual produce.
Best of all, if you don't know what something is or how to cook it, all you need to do is ask; stall holders will often have favourite recipes to hand that they will be happy to pass on. But remember - everything at farmers' markets is locally grown and harvested in season, so you're not going to find strawberries in December. What you will find is fresh food with great flavours and helpful producers who want you to enjoy their produce.
