The Canal Trust has two Trip boats, one based in Retford (named Seth Ellis) and one at Tapton Lock Visitor Centre, Chesterfield (named John Varley).
The ChesterfieldCanal cruises on the Seth Ellis narrow boat are ideal for celebrations, outings, educational trips, or just for enjoying the company of family and friends in beautiful surroundings.

Canal Cruises - The Seth Ellis
This lovely purpose built trip boat was built in 2005 and fitted out to a high standard by volunteers of the Chesterfield Canal Trust.
The canal cruises boat has large opening windows, rear, front and side doors maximising fresh air and good views. There is a heater if it is cold, a toilet, a galley providing hot and cold drinks at moderate cost, and there is even a chiller.
Public Canal Cruises from Retford, near Worksop
Unless stated otherwise these will run from the Hop Pole Public House, Welham Road, Retford, near Worksop (DN22 0SA). Free car parking is available nearby.
- On a number of weekends during 2011 we are arranging some short cruises from Retford (30-31 July, 27-29 August, 10-11 September).
- We are also arranging a number of other cruises on the following days: from Kiveton Park (23-25 April), Clayworth (28-30 May) Ranby (25-26 June).

- The charter rate for canal cruises is £36.00 per hour for the boat including crew.
- Canal cruise length is minimum of 2 hours up to 8 hours.
- The canal cruises boat is licensed for a maximum of 12 passengers. Bring your own picnic, or a stop can be arranged at a canal side pub.
