In the heart of Robin Hood Country, Rufford Park near Worksop has large areas of woodland and parkland with footpaths throughout.
The focal point of the park is the attractive remains of Rufford Abbey, originally a Cistercian monastery.
There is a Craft Centre in the former stable block, which has something for all members of the family. The Gallery has an ever-changing programme of exhibitions. There are shops, a coffee house, and you can lunch in the Savile Restaurant.
If you take a walk in the woodlands you will come across the fascinating Ice Houses. Spring is a lovely time to visit, when the bluebells are at their best.
There are nine different formal gardens, like a series of rooms linked together. One to look out for is the Rufford Herb Garden and The Rufford Sculpture Collection, which houses some fascinating artworks including the ever popular 'Ewe and Man on a Park Bench'.
