One of the West Midlands' most picturesque tourist attractions is busily preparing for the festive season.

Coughton Court, near Alcester, is already a hive of Christmas activity with the restaurant kitchen having a distinctive festive aroma.

Chefs at the National Trust property are currently creating dozens of traditional date sponge puddings, which will be one of the dishes served as part of the Christmas lunches from the 4 to 12 December.

Catering manager Les Rogers said: “Our Christmas date pudding is designed around a recipe known to be at least 250 years old and comes from a book of traditional family recipes."

Bookings are being taken now for Coughton’s three-course Christmas lunches which cost £19.95 and include a glass of wine.
