Yes We Cant supports The Good Shepherd charity

Each year, Wolverhampton arts collective Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists supports a local charity. It’s something we’ve done since we first came together as a collective, because we believe it’s important that artists give something back to the community they’re part of. So the loose change left from our pay-as-you-feel events goes into the fund-raising pot (once we’ve paid our feature poets, of course) and we top this up with a levy on the money we make from slams, shows, and workshops.

This all adds up. Every twelve months, we’re able to donate a few hundred pounds to our chosen charity (over the years we’ve supported The Well, Black Country Women’s Aid, Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary, and The Haven).

This year, we’ve decided to augment what we do by setting up a poetry competition – something we hope will become an annual event – with 100% of money made after costs going to our chosen charity for the year. In 2023, that’s the Good Shepherd, and you can read more about their work here: https://www.gsmwolverhampton.org.uk/

This new competition has a £300 1st prize, a 2nd prize of £100, and a 3rd prize of £50. You can send in your poems – on any subject you choose – any time between May 1st and midnight on June 30th, 2023 and it’ll cost you just £3.00 for each poem you enter. Or you can send in four poems for £10.00. All poems will be read, and winning poems chosen, by pandemonialist Steve Pottinger.

Thanks for your support. And good luck!
