Lempen Puppet Theatre Company will set sail to Newhampton Arts Centre in with Flotsam & Jetsam on Wednesday 22nd February to entertain little ones during the school half term break.

Flotsam is soft, flexible, and laid back. She slides and glides through life on the ice. Jetsam is the opposite, his insectile body is stiff and nervy, alert and watchful, suspicious of all in his forest home.

And then comes the weather… and they are both cast adrift in a world that is strange to them and full of a range of dangers. Finally, washed up on the same island beach they must discover the other and work out how they can work together.

The story, which also touches on climate change issues is a hopeful, adventure story about two very different creatures that must learn to work together. Visual theatre directed byMark Whitaker, with original music from Chris Davies and delightful puppetry from Liz and Daniel Lempen.

“Liz and Daniel Lempen with their gentle play, terrific manipulation, beautiful, fun-grotesque puppets and wonderful music by Chris Davies, have created a most contemporary story that moves hearts.”

Frank Demenga, Bern Puppet Theatre, Switzerland.

Tickets for Flotsam and Jetsam can be purchased fron Newhampton Arts Centre with prices strating at £6.50. There is also a special family ticket price of just £25 which includes 2 adults and 2 children. There are two performaces available at 11am ad 2pm.

More family theatre is also on it’s way this season with Kitchen Zoo’s Hey Diddle Diddle. Some of the most famous faces from favourite rhymes are coming together to present a spectacular nursery rhyme cabaret on 13th April
