Live jazz concerts this autumn

Newhampton Arts Centre and Jazz at Wolverhampton are very excited to release a
brand new Jazz at NAC line-up for Autumn 2022. The two parties have been working
closely to bring carefully selected names to the city in this autumn season of jazz and
features some of the world’s most renowned jazz musicians including renowned
artists Robert Castelli and Arnie Somogyi
Robert Castelli will open the jazz season on Thursday 22 nd September at 8pm .In his
role as jazz drummer, Robert will be joined by his BOOM quartet. Founding ‘Trio of
Boom’ in 2007, Robert has played with different configurations of ‘Boom!’ over the
years, and continues to explore new musical territories.

In October, the centre will host The Daniel Karlsson Trio. A refreshing slice of
contemporary Scandinavian piano jazz, merging acoustic and electronic sounds on an
mix of original compositions. Their fourth release Ding Dong was nominated for a
Swedish Grammy Award for best jazz album in 2018. The Daniel Karlsson Trio are:
Daniel Karlsson on piano and keyboards, Christian Spering on double bass and
Fredrik Rundqvist on drums & percussion.


Arnie Somogyi is one of the UK’s leading jazz bass players as well as composer, bandleader and educater. For this special November gig at Newhampton Arts Centre, his band will be pre senting music some of the music featured on Mingus’eponymous classic album “Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus” as well as other classic Mingus compositions.

Composer, musician, bandleader, educator and record label founder – Alto
saxophonist Martin Speake brings his project ‘In all Languages – The music of
Ornette Coleman’ to Jazz at NAC in december with Alyson Cawley on tenor
saxophone, Calum Gourlay on Double Bass & drummer, Jeff Williams.
