Italian Restaurant that's a hidden gem

It's not every day that I have time to stop for lunch but last Tuesday was an exception. I was meeting a friend and client from Wombourne Decorating Service at Caffe Paradiso in Wombourne.

We had decided to meet at Wombourne's only Italian restaurant as we both know the owner Francesco Ceccarelli, and would be assured of a warm welcome. As ever, Francesco was there to greet us as we arrived, and after chatting for 10 minutes he showed us to our table in the lavishly decorated dining area upstairs.

After a quick bottle of Moretti (fine Italian beer) and a browse through the lunch menu we enjoyed the following meal:

Starters

Asparagus Soup
Bresaola (cured beef) and Parmesan Platter

Main Course

Grilled Hake Fillet with Creamy Saffron Sauce
Escalope's of Pork fillet in White Wine and Wild Mushroom Sauce.

Deserts

Tartufo Al Lemoncello - Lemon Ice Cream Filled with Lemoncello
Pannacotta Al Lampoui Yogurt con Miele Picante - Pannacotta with Yogurt and Fresh Raspberry Heart, Drizzeled with Spicy Honey.

Now we are not restaurant critics (by any stretch of the imagination!) but we know what we like - tasty food, fresh locally sourced produce and excellent service. We were not disappointed! And to top it all… the lunch menu is just £6.50 per head for two courses.

This is a true gem of a restaurant tucked away in sleepy Wombourne. With an innovative menu and vibrant atmosphere, Caffe Paradiso is a 'must visit' restaurant in Wolverhampton.
